It's super to have the choice of all these tools, which are all able to do slightly different things. If the sites close or change, the more variety on offer the better. I'm looking forward to getting to grips with some of these this weekend.

Hello, dear BaWers&Moderators, I have experienced Zoomerang and Hot Potatoes so far, only . Having encountered some troubles I have done two surveys for my 5-th graders whose language level is considered to be as beginning. The first was embedded in my Wiki page and the other one was saved as a link in my wiki as well. I think, the Zoomerang suits me a lot and will be very useful in my further teaching experience. Then, I was trying the Hot Potatoes but couldn`t do it perfectly only because I didn`t understand the idea. Fortunately, Fernanda sent me a link to a site with a special tutorial in it where I luckily found the Russian version magnificently done by Marina Bovtenko. So, I am sure to become a skilled hand at making Hot Potatoes after a while. After that I tried “Puzzlemaker” and made a “Word search” but couldn`t save it because there was no “a custom class account”, it was non-active, so I lost it. I have failed to reach both of Headline Makers and ClozeMaker and understood nothing in Trackstar except “Casino” issue I found there nothing, perhaps, I didn`t catch the idea? So, I am amazed a lot by all these incredible tools, and it goes without saying that they are very helpful and absolutely marvellous!!!!

So, it's really nice to have some options narrowed down for us. Thanks!! Yes, it is indeed. The ability for teachers to create own surveys and quizzes is great. You are independent on the content and the space.

Dear Larissa, I like the activities posted at your wiki very much. I am learning to use Hot Potatoes now, but I don't know how to post the activities to blogs or wikis. I have downloaded the program and it can be used only off line. Could you help me? I have the similar problem with tools for educators. www.toolsforeducators.com/spelling/prepositions.php I have saved the activity but it is not available. Nataliya, Ukraine Dear Nataliya, great - you have HP. It is really nice application to create different activities. You may keep HP activities off-line and make the copy on each computer in class. You alsomay keep them on your PBWIKI. As we discovered, you need to save the HP file (htm) as a FOLDER in PBWIKI. Then, just create the link - and you will see HP. Please let me know if it works, Larisa mod week 4

In short, I usually think that when considering to use an online/CALL tool for a face-to-face classroom, I should always be aware of this aspect, and make my decisions accordingly, and not use the technology just for the sake of technology. What do you all think? This is a good point. We always need to think ahead - remember Rubena's advice? I think we always have choices - which will be better. It depends on access to computers - if you want to use technology in class. But to my mind, technology can save teacher's time. Once you feel comfortable creating online surveys or quizzes, you will adapt to this environment. You may start from small, like Survey Monkey and work with this tool to get familiar. I think technology is great for studetns - to have constant self-assessment, train, and explore. You as a teacher wouldn't spend time on paper-pencil surveys or quizzes in class. Once students try your link and complete the first assignment, they will be fine. I think you always need to have survey or quiz tutorial. usually, you need to create it once.

Hello everybody! After reading this article and discovering different friendly-use softwares that assist us in making various worksheets, quizes, interactive exercises and much more I realized that I could use most of them in my class. The only thing is (as mentioned before) the time I need in order to thoroughly explore each one of them. None the less I have already created a simple Quiz for Lower Key Stages. It is not much but I can say that I have started! Here is the link: www.mystudiyo.com/ch/a134965/goHope you score well!

As it´s already been said in this forum the quantity and quality of the web tools suggested in this article and in the weekly activities are amazing and also inspiring for teacher because they are fun to create and use in the classroom. As regard learners, this kind of activitie; are motivating and an excellent means to learn by playing and having a good time. I don´t have much experience in the use of these tools; so far, I´ve use interactive games and quizes that I found in the web already made. I found SurveyMonkey successfully which, of course, I´d go on using and Quiztar for quizes which I also like very much. I´m going to try Hot Potatoes for quizes and Wizard for lesson planning. I hope I can share my creations with all of you as soon as possible.

It is surely a nice summary of possibilities, I will certainly follow the links and explore these activities. So far I have been using Nicenet as a platform with my students - its advantage is a very simple and clear layout, no fancy colours to distract from learning, and mainly NO ADVERTS popping up. It is a closed environment available only for registered users, so students feel safe, no-one from the outside world has access to their writing. I have been using Hot Potatoes for years and really love this program, it has so many types of exercises and can produce a variety of styles, songs, videos, texts to read can be added to the exercises. I highly recommend it to all teachers. Very user friendly for both teachers and students. From the online exercises, I use QuizStar, which was not mentioned, Vocabulary Worksheet factory, Eclipse Crossword for created crosswords to be printed. I will surely explore the rest. Thank you for bringing this article.
