An easy to watch video about building networks between students and teachers. How this can change our roles inside and outside the classroom. What do you think about this ? www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwM4ieFOotA(video 5 mins)

Yes, a nice vision. From my own experience, I must say that it does not work like that in all aspects. Students like going through all material provided, they love interactive exercises and quizzes to check their knowledge, but for instance discussions somehow do not work. I tried it many times, tried different ways. Offered discussion questions - one answers, nobody reacts. I once made it obligatory for them to react 3 times in a discussion forum - and that brought really funny results. Guess how many times they reacted? Exactly, you guessed it right - three times each. If they have a problem, they send me a personal letter, never to the list. I think it may be caused by the fact that they are adults and are ashamed of admitting they do not know something. It takes a while before people stop being ashamed to ask whenever they do not know something.

It does take a long time to change ingrained habits - I have the same problem with colleagues ! Sharing our lessons and ideas is impossible. I read a good book on teaching how to set up debates and various techniques and with a low ability group it actually was quite successful (in terms of students speaking time !) I'll try and find the reference.

I've opened a new Blog "BLENDED LEARNING" at our Uzbek ning "Uzbekespteachers. uzbekespteachers.ning.com/Hope that it would be a real bridge among Teachers and Learners! I plan to spread a word about the Baw2011 activities to many of my colleagues. Plan to make a presentation at one of our every Friday seminars at UzTEA ,the professional organization of Uzbek English Teachers with about more than 200 000 its members. I've been working for 30 years in the far Uzbek region, plan to visit the place of my previous teaching and inform people about the Blended Learning. Halima

The video presents the student of tomorrow, but we, teachers, are the ones to navigate them successfully to the network learning, which means we first have to get involved and get adjusted to the new trends and technologies.
